Sacrifice - tribute to Fred
A Sacrifice
She stood in the corner, this perfect bride to be
But all was not perfect for she was not he
It was a secret kept for reasons not sure
But the secret did not mean that he was so pure
He had lost his virginity to the man down the road
Though he was not sober on entering the abode
His eyes once held mischief but now were dimmed by self blame
The hair atop his head was still as red as flame
The freckles on his features were all still in place
They were once mirrored but his special ones face
He bowed to the father and kissed the mothers hand
Wishing he were anywhere but in this broken land
The hills are no longer green,

Are You Courageous?
[A question raised in my English entrance exam.]
Q. What is courage?
[I chose to answer in the form of a debate/essay as the format was not specified but a large space was provided. This was my answer. (We were NOT allowed dictionaries in the exam.)]
A. The most commonly recognised form of courage would have a very simple answer. One could simply write This is. and leave the rest of this page blank but to answer in such a form would not give explanation for courage and would present not an image of courage but more of arrogance and lack an understanding for the true meaning of the word.
